Well, as many of you will know/suspect a day, or two, is clearly a very long time in terms of Government Covid Policy!

Following representations made by the Angling Trust, the DCMS Sports Team have confirmed the following:

“fishing is allowed as exercise so long as participants adhere to the rules on staying local, gathering limits, social distancing and limiting the time spent outdoors”

This has also been confirmed by DEFRA:

“Cabinet Office have now officially confirmed that angling / fishing (incl. sea fishing off private boats, water sports) can be considered exercise and are hence permitted.”

As a result our waters are reopened with imemdiate effect. However, you need to bear in mind the effect of the various caveats:

1/ You can only go fishing ‘locally’ – if it’s not ‘local’ to you then do not go.

2/ You cannot stay overnight (not allowed under our club rules anyway)

3/ There is to be no match fishing.

4/ You must follow other Covid 19 rules on social distancing, etc.
