This very hot weather, especially after a prolonged dry spell, is likely to see reduced oxygen levels in most of our club waters – with attendant risks for fish welfare.

You can assist by either avoiding/minimising fishing trips or, if you do go, avoid using/greatly reduce the amount of loose feed and groundbait thrown in – and do not keep fish in keepnets unless in a supervised club match.

As ever, if you see numbers of fish in distress, e.g. lying on their sides at or near the surface, do let a member of the committee know.
